Myopia Management

Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a vision condition where distant objects appear blurry while close objects can be seen clearly. This happens because the eye is either too long or the cornea (the front part of the eye) is too curved, causing light to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it. Myopia can also be progressive, especially in children and teenagers, meaning that their vision may worsen over time, requiring stronger glasses or contact lenses.

Myopia can be challenging for kids for several reasons:

  • Learning Issues: Kids with myopia may struggle to see things clearly at a distance, like the board in school. This can affect their learning and participation in class.
  • Increased Screen Time: Many children spend more time on screens, which can worsen myopia. This leads to a cycle where they may need stronger glasses as they grow.
  • Outdoor Activities: Kids with myopia might avoid outdoor activities or sports where distance vision is important, limiting their physical activity and social interactions.
  • Long-term Risks: High myopia can increase the risk of serious eye problems later in life, such as retinal detachment or glaucoma.
  • Self-esteem Issues: Wearing glasses or having difficulty seeing can affect a child’s confidence and self-esteem.So, what can we do to address this progressive condition? Meet MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses!

MiSight® 1 day is the first and only FDA-approved daily disposable soft contact lens proven to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children aged 8-12 at the initiation of treatment.
With ActivControl® Technology, children can enjoy freedom from glasses when wearing their lenses while helping to slow the progression of their nearsightedness.

By including both vision correction and treatment zones in the lens, MiSight® 1 day simultaneously corrects your child’s vision today, while signaling the eye to resist getting longer, with the goal of preserving vision for the future.

How effective is MiSight® 1 day?

  • 59% average reduction in myopia progression with MiSight® 1 day lenses
  • Nearly 90% of age-appropriate children preferred MiSight® 1 day lenses over their glasses during a 3-year study
